LOVE IN TIMES OF COVID-19

About 100 days since the state of alarm began.
This is how it all unfolded: #StayHome, children's rainbow drawings on windows, overwhelmed hospitals, healthcare personnel working endlessly, rising infection numbers, hundreds of deaths per day, social distancing, masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, infected friends, pain, sadness, mourning, empty streets, silence, and more silence; birthdays celebrated from balconies, weddings postponed, events suspended, applause for frontline workers, neighborhood talks, heartache, cold days, and even a snowy night. They were all challenging days, quite challenging.
But here we are, in Spain, loving this country, crying with those who cry, and being part of all this Pandemic.
As the weeks passed, we entered the de-escalation phases. With the initiation of this first phase, we resumed our daily walks.
The locals are incredibly welcoming; they always greet us warmly. During one such greeting, a neighbor remarked, 'Now we greet each other with a mask instead of a hat.' It became evident that things have changed quite a lot.
Instead of driving us apart, social distancing brings us together. People engage in conversations, and in these moments, we cherish the time spent with family and friends.
Here we are, wearing masks, strolling through the town, striving to be individuals who embody love. Because loving is the most crucial thing we can do now and always, allowing others to see Jesus in us.
Loving in times of COVID-19.
(Pray for us and for Spain)
With love, smiles conveyed through the eyes, and a touch of melancholy in the heart.
